Women - Premiere Womens Dragonboat Team - Bios |

As the Cascades Premiere Women's Team we
continue to follow
a rigorous dry-land training schedule, in the pool, in the gym
and,
of course outdoors on the ski trails, slopes and bike trails in
our community. |
| Our coach:
Julie Beaulieu:

experience. Owner of Bodhi Fitness, Julie is a Canadian Fitness

Former basketball, football, hockey and softball player, and basketball
coach, Jocelyne is taking her energy and passion for team sports
to a different dimension. When she is not rooting for the team,
she manages leadership development programs for federal public
servants. |
Our paddlers:
|
|
| Team Captain
Judy Mason:
Judy is a white water canoe instructor and winner of the Canadian
Ski Marathon Lachute Team Trophy in 2004 and 2005. Judy is a high
school physical education and outdoor education teacher and coaches
field hockey, cross country skiing, and dragon boating. Judy shares
her enthusiasm for sports with her husband and two children. |
Angie Thomas:
A high school social science and Phys Ed teacher, Angie coaches
several high school sports. She has been involved in sports all
her life, and has completed many marathons, including the Boston
(2005), and participated in the Canadian Ski Marathon for the
past two years. Dragon boating is a new sport, but it is fast
becoming a favourite. |
| Cathy Dufour:
Mother of two girls and Coordinator of the Nursing Department
at Heritage College, Cathy has played golf, baseball, soccer,
and hockey, and has now discovered a new love for "Dragon
Boating". She is an avid kayaker/paddler and "lives
to paddle and paddles to live". |

effort and commitment, into her own training and dragon boat competition. |
Ivana Vouk:
A staunch advocate for the protection of the environment and a
keen outdoors enthusiast, Ivana quickly became passionate about
dragon boating and now devotes her time and strength to securing
her team's success. |

her inspiration. |

high school in the Ottawa area. Growing up as a nationally and
internationally competitive synchronized swimmer, and playing
varsity waterpolo. A woman with many passions, Leila shares her
enthusiasm for positive sport experiences by coaching young athletes. |
| Kay Kerman:
Kay's flexibility and natural athletic abilities have adapted
well to the sport of dragonboat paddling. An original member of
the club's women's team, Kay continues to perfect her technique
and refuses to take her team hat off, even in bed! |
Marie-Josée Lafleur:
As a full time lawyer and mother of four, Marie-Josée never

this invigorating sport. |

Michelle is mother to two teenagers from whom she draws much of
her inspiration. |
Mary Hutton:
A paddler for four years, and the senior member of the team, Mary
might be thought of as a sobering influence and a source of wisdom
in the boat. However, her sister paddlers bear witness to the
fact that at times she is clownish and singularly lacking in decorum.
In spite of these deficits, she is a determined athlete and a
proud member of the Cascade Women's team. |
| Maureen Fehr:
Highly involved with both her family and community, Maureen's
energy is boundless. She has been actively involved in numerous
community organizations, and currently teaches Nursery School.

that dragonboating will bring in the future. |

to the sport but she felt it was time to take a turn and she will
never look back.

and outdoor soccer, loves to run or mountain bike the trails of
Chelsea with her dog and friends.
She is driven by competition and thrives on the energy she gets
